I'm currently working with Uk based charity "Salt of the Earth" a successful and different charity. Founded in 1988, it was set up to support a particular non-governmental organisation in the southern Tamil Nadu region of India called Social Change and Development (SCAD). SCAD had been started a few years earlier to help the low caste, the disadvantaged and the poorest of the poor. The people SCAD help live in great poverty and, without help, they would be unable to improve their lot.

I departed the Uk on the 19th of September 2008 to spend nearly 3 weeks in the region and was based at the Vannarpettai campus in Tirunelveli. During my visit I covered a number of projects highlighting the essential work being carried out by both Salt of the Earth and SCAD.
